On Saturday, 4/6/09, the VEX Robotics teams from Harriton High School and Lower Merion High School competed in a qualifying event at Summit High School in Summit, NJ. Both teams performed really well: Lower Merion received 2nd place and Harriton received 3rd place. Lower Merion also received an Excellence award which qualifies them to compete at the world competition at the end of April in Dallas, Texas. LMHS Technology Education & English teacher, Rich Kressly, who co-advises the LMHS Technology & Engineering Club recently received the prestigious "2009 Woodie Flowers Award." This award celebrates effective communication in the art and science of engineering and design, and was presented to Kressly at the 2009 FIRST Robotics Regional Competition in Washington D.C. last month. The team of Allison McLaughlin, Brittany Killen, Cailtin Schreiber, Hunter Landau, Jacob Ashman, Phil Hayes, and Tyler Schecter have, for the second consecutive season qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championships. Bala Cynwyd teacher Lauren Lapinski has been named the Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania's (TEAP) 2008 recipient of the Middle School Teacher Excellence Award. LMSD Technology Education teachers and the Pennsylvania TSA State Officer Team attend the Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania conference in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. The Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania believes technology education is a vital aspect of education for all students at all levels in Pennsylvania.
